The Post Graduate course in social work is a two-year full time course. It concentrates on professional training. In the second year, students specialize in any one of the following subjects:
  1. Personnel Management and Industrial relations
  2. Medical and psychiatric social work
  3. Community Development (Rural, Urban and Tribal)

The primary aim of this educational programme is to prepare for professional practice by training them to probe and understand thoroughly the nature of human need, potentialities of services and to intervene effectively. The students of social work will be trained to pan and execute an extensive range of social work activities and work in commercial and industrial establishments and training institution.



The curriculum has three important components

Theory, Field work and Research. It enables the students to acquire necessary knowledge of sociology, psychology, philosophy and methods of social work and practical experience in scientific social research. To facilitate the above complex learning process, the training programme includes independent study, levtures, seminars, workshops, symposia, research, concurrent and block field work training. Ultimately, the curriculum objectives are directed towrds equipping students with considerable knowledge, technical skills, values and attitudes appropriate to social work practices. There is also the combined aim of grooming and personality of the learner by developing a matured outlook along with acquisition of technical knowledge and professional skills.
