The Biotechnology program in the Department of Biotechnolgy aims to provide students with a carefully selected sequential set of courses that when completed successfuly improve their knowledge in Molecular Biology, Bioprocess Technology, Fermentation Technology,Immunology, Plant Tissue Culture, and Genetics . Students will accquire hands-on knowledge in laboratory techniques including Plant Tissue Culture, Electrophoresis, in addition to several Molecular and immunological techniques. The acquired knowledge will therefore, be helpful in acquiring a wide variety of biotechnology-related jobs in manufacturing industries, research laboratories, teaching institutions and /or sales & promotion sectors.

  1. Bachelor of Science - Biotechnology (B.Sc. BT) - 3 Years
PG Courses
  1. Master of Science - Biotechnology (M.Sc. BT) - 2 Years


Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College earned the merit of being the first college under Bharathidasan University to offer M.Sc. Biotechnology in Trichy region



Facilities

The Department has state of the art laboratory starting from PCR, Elisa Reader,Sonicator, Fermenter, Refrigerated Centrifuge, Electroporator, Tissue Culture facility, Millipore Water Purification System, Gel documentation to all range of Electrophoresis systems.

Association - SAIL

Our Student association SAIL (Scientific Association of interactive Learning) run by students guided by our faculty members for developing co-curricular and extracurricular skills.

Its activities include organizing and conducting special Seminars, Lectures and Awareness program drawing resource persons from different segments covering academicians, researchers/Scientists and Industry.

Students are encouraged to present papers on external seminars, Extempore, Quiz etc.
